Top 5: Sarah Geronimo
Singer, dancer, actress, and record producer, Sarah Geronimo secured herself the fifth spot of Just Wandaring’s top five gay icons. Sarah jump-started her singing career when she won the ABS-CBN singing competition show – Star of the Night in 2002. Since then popsters have lived as she put out hit after hit with powerful balads such as Forever’s Not Enough to dance hits like Sa Iyo, Ikot-Ikot, Kilometro, and of course Tala.
Top 4: Mariah Carey
The lambs have it, coming into the number four spot is The Elusive Chanteuse herself, Mariah Carey. She has cemented herself in the hearts of so many of us in the community with her effortless whistle tone that blew us away every time. Her performances have also been a favorite among entertainers to emulate.
Top 3: Regine Velasquez-Alcasid
Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid rose to number three on our top five list of gay icons. Ever since she won the RPN singing competition show Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984, Regine has been a household name among Filipinos across the globe. Almost ten years into the game, Regine broke through charts in Southeast and East Asia with her albums Listen Without Prejudice and My Love Emotion in the mid-90s. To this day, Regine is unbeaten as the Philippines’ best selling recording artist of all time.
Top 2: Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter
Queen Bey just misses our number one spot of top gay icons among Just Wandaring viewers. Starting out as the lead singer of one of the best selling girl groups of all time, Destiny’s Child, Beyonce has made a name for herself with her powerful presence, amazing voice, and impressive choreography. She has enamored us all with every album era serving look after look.
Top 1: Lady Gaga
Little Monsters rejoice, Mother Monster is the number one gay icon on our list! Lady Gaga has represented so much for the gay community, from her eccentric looks and entrancing music. She has made such an impact on how we express ourselves today. Through her emotional song writing, and attending political events that defend and support the LGBT community, Lady Gaga definitely deserves the number one spot on this list. Yaaaas Gaga!
